VISION/MISSION The mission of Gaza Area Committee is established on the understanding of Diakonia: "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink,I was stranger and you welcomed me" (Matthew 25:35) "I am among you as he that serves" (Luke. 22:24) "You should do as I have done to you" (John 13:15) "Serve one another with Love." (Galatians 5:130) This mandate of service was a one "of living Diakonia to God and to the neighbor." Diakonia is more than service or policy, it is faith. The foundations of Diakonia/service are found in the Christian tradition. Faith and action are complementary expressions of Christian life. Diakonia is action geared towards the development of the whole human beings, for human life is unique and sacred. The Gaza Area Committee is aiming at the empowerment and strengthening the Palestinian individuals and communities. This includes the right of people to have a better quality life not only in the political sphere but also in economic, culture, religious and other aspects of life based on equality and justice, and to enhance self-reliance as well as community participation in decision making, and managing our affairs. The vulnerable and marginalized Palestinians, are the target group of the Gaza Area Committee to work with in their efforts at maintaining and building the integrity of our civil society. |
